Gentile Shares PR Insights with Marketers Network
The League’s Marketers Network gathered together at the Credit Union Center in Marlborough on March 11. The featured speaker for the meeting was League President Paul Gentile who shared the insight he has on how the media works which he gained while working as a reporter and then as the editor of Credit Union Times.
In a broad ranging presentation and discussion which used recent articles that the League was quoted in and opinion pieces that the League placed Gentile shared examples of what the credit union communicators might face when working with a reporter or an editor and how to make the most of them. For example, he spoke about how to ensure that key points are made by sticking to a limited number of ideas and turning the conversation back to them repeatedly. He also answered a number of great questions about what kind of topics are appropriate for press releases, how many press releases should be sent and how to avoid being misquoted.
The group concluded the morning with roundtable discussions that focused on what sort of products and promotions were yielding the best results at various credit unions and what modes of communication were most successful in reaching certain groups of members.
